Hello my name is Rebekah Mercadel Hart.

I’m 31 years old and was living a fairly normal life until January, 2022.

I was married and a homeowner for 4 years. I worked as a manager at three weight loss offices for 5 years. Out of nowhere, I started getting sick.

First it was stomach and intestinal issues, then I developed a chest tumor. All of this was wreaking havoc on my body with massive weight loss and chronic extremity nerve and joint pain. I lost over 50 pounds and suffered with insomnia without sleep for months.

Under normal circumstances I’m financially independent, but during these challenging times meeting my financial responsibilities is basically nonexistent. I have not been able to work since I was let go from my employer in May of 2022.

Fast forward in October of 2022 I elected to send my medical records from Texas to be reviewed by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Within weeks I was granted an appointment with one of the head doctors from Neurology which was November 3, 2022.

Based on the evaluation which was done with a Neurologist, he found it necessary to immediately admit me and start IVIG treatments for Morvan’s Syndrome and autoimmune encephalitis.

Within a couple of days of being admitted, I experienced excruciating abdominal pain. The doctors did a CT scan which led to having emergency exploratory surgery within an hour of the scan being done. Unfortunately, during the surgery doctors discovered that my large and small intestine had no blood flow and was basically dead. They performed emergency surgery to remove all of colon, gall bladder and 98% of my small intestines. I am now unable to absorb food, water etc. and have to be on Total Parenteral Nutrition infusions via a port in my chest for eighteen hours a day.

Fast forward again after five life-saving surgeries, I stand here today thanking God for grace and for my life.

I’m grateful to be a candidate for a small bowel intestinal and colon surgery. I have to travel to multiple evaluation medical centers across the country for surgery evaluations and testing this year and in early 2024. Please keep me in your prayers.

I’m so thankful to God, that my mom has been able to be my caregiver along with my dad and an incredible team of doctors and nurses from the Mayo Clinic.

If you are led, and able to bless me with a donation please do so, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and may God bless you all,

Rebekah Mercadel Hart ❤️
