Hero Hike in honor of Alex Lofgren (USMC) to benefit Operation Delta Dog. 

 We hope you can join us in honor and in memory of Alex to raise some money for a cool cause that Alex would approve of. 

MEETUP DETAILS:  We will meet at the Trailisde Museum parking lot. Coming from I 93 you will pass trhought the lights with Dunkins on your left.   You will see a parking lot on your right for SKI, keeping going and pass teh Trailside Museum Buiding and the lot is immeditly after on your right.  Coming from Milton, it will be the big lot on your left BEFORE the museum.  Look for a Celtics flag greena dn white  - that is what we had :) .  We will be on a wooded trail for justa few minutes before hitting the service road up to Eliot Tower....if you need pavement the whole way we can sneak out to Canton Ave and get the service road there. 

Operation Delta Dog trains rescue dogs to become service dogs for veterans.  It is a double win with real impact that changes lives.  Alex passed away December 7, 2023 hiking in Colorado - more majestic than Blue Hills but nontheless we will be amongst the trees.  https://operationdeltadog.org/

Though I myself hadn't been in touch with Alex in the last few years the loss of such a giant spirit was palpable.  I know there are tons of people who hold lots of memories of Alex and the energy he showered on everyone around him. 

The "hike" is on a paved road so is more accessible than the bumpy trail up to the Eliot Tower. As of 2/17/24 the tower is under renovation but as you circle the tower you can catch some views.  Roundtrip the hike is about 2.2miles.  ( I am sure this length and level of difficulty is laughable to him!)

I will work on getting a post hike plan together if people want to gather.
