Being a single dad comes with its own set of joys and challenges, especially when you have two young children to care for. My son, at the tender age of six, and my little girl, just two years old, are the center of my world, and every day is an adventure with them. But life threw some tough obstacles our way, and I've had to learn to be a better dad and a better person for their sake.
Two years ago, I made the most important decision of my life – I chose to recover from addiction. It wasn't easy, but my kids were my motivation. Their smiles, their laughter, and their unconditional love kept me on the path to sobriety. I knew that to be the dad they deserved, I had to stay clean and be there for them.
As much as I wanted their mom to join us on this journey, she decided not to change her ways, and I ended up with sole custody. It's been a tough road, but it's a road I'm willing to travel for my children's well-being.
Recently, life threw another curveball my way. I lost my job because I had to miss work frequently to take my son to school and my daughter to her doctor's appointments. Daycare costs skyrocketed, and it became impossible for me to afford. On top of that, I had to purchase school clothes and supplies for my son, which left my savings account empty.
Right now, my main concern is ensuring my children have a stable home and food on the table. I worry every day about how to pay the bills and rent. I've reached a point where I'm asking for help because I don't want my children to go to bed hungry or be without a roof over their heads. I just want to provide for them and give them the best life I can.
