A safe place to live with my son

I am in a situation that sounds like a movie. I am divorced from a man that was never really my husband. I found out about it because he was served with divorce papers from his "actual" wife when I was at his apartment taking care of him years after our "divorce". He and I divorced a few years ago and his health took a drastic turn for the worse.

I could have said screw him, but he needed my help and just because he wasn't the husband for me, that didn't change who I am as a person. I would check his mail, pick up his prescriptions, grocery shop, wash his clothes, and cook meals. He is bedridden and can't do any of it.  Though we have not been together for years, I have been doing what I think God would want me to do.

I even continued to help after finding out that he had a marriage before that I was never aware of. We have a 9-year-old son together and we ended up moving in so that I could care for him full time and his son could be near him while he can.

I was a medical assistant at a New Orleans hospital for a while and was laid off after COVID. I gained other temporary employment after that, but it recently ended unexpectedly. I am actively searching for work, but it is slow going so I have been working to get my own business up and running, but I can only do the things that don't require money because everything has been so tight.

I got a text message from him tonight saying that he needs to speak with me about something super important. Turns out that he is more ill than he has been putting on and his remote job has been cutting his hours. This means that the rent is past due and I had no idea how late it was.

I don't have any savings because I have been providing for my son while looking for employment. He says that Monday is the court date for the eviction and he can't even leave the house to go (he can't walk anymore and hasn't left the house in years). 

I need money to find a place to live with my son until I am gainfully employed again. My son is attending an advanced academy that I want him to be able to continue to attend so I need to live somewhere within the district which is why I thought I could help him in his situation and it would also make it possible for my son to go to a decent school.

My ex-husband is banking on the fact that he won't live much longer and isn't making arrangements to move anywhere else.

Please help me with the money to find housing with my son. I need about $5000 to pay 1st month's rent and the deposit, but anything you can send will help. I will be using the money from my final check for food for the time being. I must stay positive and tell myself that I will definitely find employment soon and be able to continue to provide for my son, but in the moment, I am lost and without any more money saved or any help. I don't have family to turn to. I lost my father (my person) back in 2017 and his wife shortly after.

We are about 4-5 days away from being evicted and I have always worked so hard in my life to avoid this situation for myself and my son. 

I know there are so many people that are not actually in need of help, but I am hoping that someone will help me like I always would help others. I don't do the good deeds for anything in return, but I don't like to see people hurting or in need so I always do what I can.

I am asking that you do what you can. You will be blessing someone who always and forever pays it forward. I promise it won't stop with me.
